Our 5 Favourite Outdoor Gear Kickstarter Campaigns

Who doesn’t love a good Kickstarter campaign? Not only do you get to support products that wouldn’t otherwise get made, but you also usually save some pennies because of the ‘direct-to-consumer’ model. So today on the blog, we’re bringing you a roundup of our 5 favourite outdoor gear Kickstarter campaigns. Let’s take a look:

The LoftTek Adventure Jacket

The LoftTek Adventure Jacket is a project that’s currently still in funding. And in our view, it looks well worth the money! The idea behind this jacket is to combine the best aspects of down and synthetic insulation to make something lightweight, packable, and that retains its insulating properties when wet. You’d better hurry if you want to get on board with this one – the project is closing soon!

The LoftTek Adventure Jacket can be found on Kickstarter here.

The Chammock

Weighing in at only 265 grams, the Chammock might just be the lightest camping chair option we’ve ever come across. You can use it both as a normal chair or – much more fun in our view – as a swing. In terms of features, the Chammock has a pillow pocket behind the head, and a storage pouch between the legs that makes a nice holster for your book or phone. Some handy armholes in the sides of the hammock help to keep the weight down, and also help you avoid feeling too ‘cocooned’.

You can check out the Kickstarter campaign for the Chammock here.

The Freestyle BivyPack

The Freestyle BivyPack is a backpack that transforms into a simple, lightweight Bivy bag. It’s also designed to be accommodated as carry-on luggage, making it a good option for frequent flyers. The best part? This combined shelter and backpack weighs in at only 450 grams! While a Bivy may not be for everyone, there are plenty of times when it just makes sense. It’s certainly difficult to argue against the sheer ingenuity and weight saving of the design.

The Muncher Titanium Multi Utensil

Ever looked at a Spork and thought to yourself “Not good enough”? Evidently the folks over at Full Windsor have, as they’ve designed a gadget that packs in a whopping 10 functions for about the same size and weight as the humble Spork. Featuring (amongst other things) a peeler, bottle opener, and fire flint, we can’t wait to try The Muncher on our next trip!

The SunStrap Solar Charger

The SunStrap is a Solar Charger designed to be retrofitted onto any bag or camera strap. This ‘always out’ design allows you to tap the power of the sun as soon as you set out on your day – no more fumbling bulky solar packs out of your bag! It has a whopping 5600 mAh battery encased in the sleeve, which should be enough to power most phones 2 times over. Although some may not be crazy about the SunStrap’s aesthetics, we think the renewable energy look is definitely ‘in’ this year. And every other year, for that matter 🙂

If you want to know more about SunStrap, you can find their Kickstarter page here.

That’s all folks!
